The Warren Arts & Education Foundation was reorganized and expanded in 1992 from the previous Warren Fine Arts Foundation established in 1985.
During the past seventeen years, the Foundation has awarded more than $600,000 in grants to faculty and schools for educational projects not covered by the traditional school budget. Special projects and academic programs have benefited many students. Residency grants help schools bring outside professionals such as authors, ceramists, musicians or scientists into the schools to work with students.
The Fine Arts neck medallions and certificates are awarded annually to approximately 75 students in grades 5, 8 and 12 who excel in one of seven areas of the Fine Arts.
Funds are raised through activities such as TreeFest, the annual golf outing, Making A Difference Project, grants, donations and memberships.
Missoula Children’s Theatre is available for 50 to 60 enthusiastic K-8 students who are selected thru auditions. Five rehearsal days later, they have two public performances. The Missoula directors present daytime school workshops.
The WAEF was instrumental in having the first Warren Central High School Alumni Directory published and helped establish the Alumni Hall of Fame in Warren Central.
The annual Retirement Recognition dinner honors retiring MSD Warren Employees who have served students in areas such as teacher, cafeteria worker, custodian, administrator, clerical or classroom assistant.
Purchase of Education License Plates provides $18.75 each for the Foundation’s grant fund.
The WAEF has a 16 member Board of Directors comprised of 12 elected members and 4 appointees who represent the superintendent, school board, teacher union and PTA Council.
